My Approach

This game won the award of 'Best Digital Board Game' at the Seamedu Game Awards held after the game jam.
Students from all colleges of Seamedu participated, from Pune, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Bengaluru.
A total of 50 projects for this category were submitted.

During the creation of "Stock Bazaar," a digital board game, I ventured into the realm of stocks, an entirely new field for me, dedicating hours to learning about investing.

Moreover, given the game's extensive scope, it demanded thorough planning as numerous modules were essential, emphasizing the need for a methodical approach.

The game had a strong focus on educational aspects, aiming to inform and empower players about the world of stocks while providing an enjoyable gaming experience.
Also, we had a user-friendly art style, departing from ultra-realism, to be more human friendly.

Designed a dynamic system where the AI continuously learned from its interactions. It maintained a queue of stocks, assessing profits and losses to inform its strategic decisions. This approach breathed life into the game, creating a dynamic and engaging experience for players.

One of the unique challenges in game design revolved around the 10 companies, with 2 from each of the 5 sectors. The task was to effectively display the stock prices for each company while maintaining a consistent visual style.
To address this, I implemented interfaces and custom classes, enabling code reusability and ensuring a robust, uniform design across the board.

The game was designed in such a way that a person coming into the stock industry could easily understand the basics and learn what and how stocks function.
Also, instead of spending real money, they can use virtual money to check their skills.

In response to user feedback, we added a graph view of stock pricing to further enhance the player's understanding.
The primary focus of the game was to provide an enjoyable experience that went beyond a typical simulator. It was essential for players to feel the excitement of winning and losing money, creating a sense of thrill.
